FUN-Raising FLING a huge success!

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who made the first-ever EZ FUN-Raising FLING such a success! By all accounts, it was a great time. We'll post pictures here soon.... So stay tuned.

Nearly 60 people attended the event -- raising a total of $500 (great for a first effort)! Among the highlights:

Sharon Altemose Felegie (Eta) won $100 in one of the 50/50 raffles (and she was the very last person to buy a FLING ticket). Thank you, Marganne Nye Hoffman (Founder) for making the 50/50s the single-most profitable thing we did that night!
Darla Dietrich Tate (Founder) beat out a high bidder in the silent auction for an Eagles bar stool, raising $51 additional dollars over the $50 donated by Rebecca Aten (Alpha) to purchase the item. So $101 total benefits the chapter. (Thanks, Rebecca -- we doubled your money!)
Lori Moschella Kleist (Founder) narrowly beat out Jen Moser's (Alpha Mu) boyfriend Joey in a silent auction bid for a "celebration" basket. (Oh, the agony of defeat was tough for Joey, who confessed he wanted to impress Jen with his bid! But he enjoyed himself nonetheless.)
Sharon Wilson Kerstetter's (Epsilon) handmade children's quilt netted $40 (and she wasn't even sure it would make $20 -- but of course it did, because it was beautiful!)

We had a flurry of last-minute donations in addition to Rebecca's too, including DeeAnne Glenn Orzechowski (Founder), Paula Dengler Plummer (Zeta), Wendy Kirkner Rollman (Founder) and Julie Lennon Seiple (Founder) -- not to mention other alumnae donations to defray costs of the event and assist collegians in attending. Again, thanks to everyone! There are plenty of people who are not mentioned here, but they know who they are -- and how grateful we are.

WHAT'S NEXT? Save the date: Homecoming is October 29-30 this year. We're trying to organize a family-related event (hayride? pumpkin carving?) at the same time. We'll keep you posted!

Happy summer!

What will you miss at the FLING? Plenty!

SOMEONE ONCE SAID YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO RICH OR TOO THIN. Bah! The only superlative that's even remotely true is this one: You can never have too many friends. AND this one: You can never laugh enough. AND this one: There's never as much time as you think.

With little more than one week to go before Phi Sig's first-ever FUN-Raising FLING, there's still time to reserve your ticket. But we need to hear from you *now*! Last call will be Tuesday, June 7. The headcount is finalized Wednesday, June 8. We finish the directories and family lines on June 9 and 10.

TO SISTERS WHO'VE ALREADY BOUGHT TICKETS OR want to give a "shout out" to their friends: Click on this link and share your favorite songs with us! The DJ's got everything, so let's make sure he plays what we love! The link: (inactive following event).

WHAT WILL YOU BE MISSING IF YOU DON'T GO? Just some of the best food and beverages in southeastern PA, all the songs you remember from back in the day, reminiscing over good times with your friends ... You know, the usual! Not to mention chapter scrapbooks and history items, meeting sisters in your family line, an opportunity to know our recent graduates (who saved the chapter in a way) and even next year's newest leaders! Oh, and let's not forget the chance to be among the first sisters pictured on our new Web site by summer's end, the opportunity to *make* money (50/50 raffles), win table prizes and bid on the cutest gift baskets ever! Here's a preview:

  • "Picture Perfect" gift basket featuring super-cute frames of every kind and color

  • "Personal Pizzazz" gift basket with your favorite personal-care products

  • "Summer Fun" gift basket with, among other things, a floating ping-pong table

  • Eagles bar stool – what sports-lovin' guy doesn't want and need one?

  • "Revivals" gift basket, including a vintage tole-painted writing table/lap desk and other unusual antiques.

These items were purchased with DONATIONS by many of you who could not attend. WE THANK YOU and wish you could come! And we'll be sure to include your names in the program and send you a copy along with your directories and family lines (which every sister will get in weeks to come).

TO BUY TICKETS OR DONATE, write me at lromero@pbp.com or call any of the numbers below. Don't delay! Do it today! :-)

We hope to see you there! And if you can't make it, believe me, you will be there in spirit and you WILL BE MISSED!
